Citizens workshop – deliveries in the city!

Registration at office@thinkportvienna.at

Initial situation

Increasing freight traffic in cities and the demand of the “EU White Paper on Transport” for essentially CO2-free urban logistics in larger urban centres by 2030 already make fundamental changes necessary today. In the future, parcel service providers will be faced with the challenge of having to search for possibilities for transhipment in urban areas and will thus be confronted with the general shortage of space.

Project info

The project “MiHu – Analysis of Cooperation Opportunities for Urban Midi-Hubs – A Stakeholder Comprehensive Approach to Efficient Infrastructure Use” has the primary goal of using valuable inner-city areas as efficiently as possible. The aim is to investigate the possibilities for the establishment of medium-sized urban goods centres (midi hubs).

Such a hub should be used cooperatively by several parcel service providers. For this innovative concept, the term “midi hub” has been introduced, based on the already familiar concept of the “micro hub”. A midi hub is larger than a micro hub and has the capacity not only to supply a single district, but also to supply a larger part of the city with goods.

The opinions of the citizens are important to us!

In the MiHu project, consideration of the concerns of business, politics, the environment and the population with regard to tomorrow’s logistics is of central importance in order to achieve a balance of interests. In addition to the cooperation and survey of the city administration and CEPs, the integration of the citizens for a holistic evaluation has a high priority in the project.

Come by and discuss tomorrow’s parcel delivery with experts from BOKU and WU!
